Hi,

I saved about 50 of the 'one directional communication devices' (well, dont know exact word for that) they are kind of very old desk phones that I spotted some parts inside.

So I would like to know if they are of any use on pedal building ?

2N5115 -googled that this is a p-channel jfet might try on boosters or overdrives. It looks like germanium transistor.

BC307B

LM324N

LM389N

CD4015BE

CD4013BE

CD4049UBE

MC14021BCP

and finally small six legged transformers that say: 300ohm/600ohm 100mW

thanks,
mat

Paul Perry (Frostwave)

BC307B
PNP silicon

LM324N
common foolproof quas op amp

LM389N
very interesting discontinued lowish power amp with separate transistors on the same die, the old Nationals app books had ingenious circuits usign these

CD4049UBE
think this is in the 'double D' distortion at ROG?

If you are lucky, might be in wah inductor range.
Or you could use in a ring modulator, possibly.
Or in one of those old single transistor audio oscillators.

Just for the sake of completeness...

CD4015BE CMOS Dual 4 stage static shift register

CD4013BE CMOS Dual D flip flop

MC14021BCP 8 bit static shift register

None particularly useful for stompboxes... unless you're into using obsolete components for digital circuits.

Useful for building pink noise generators.

This chip is used in almost all octave-down generators ( example: the MXR Blue Box) and in many other applications where you want to latch one state or the other (See: "A Remote Indicating Footswitching System" at GEO).

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

for the final one.... the 2N5115 is a p-channel JFET that is unfortunatly not very sensative. Vgs=3 to 6V. For a J201 it's more like .3 to 1.5V.

They're low gain, but if you drive the hell out of them you may have something. :D
Eschew paradigm obfuscation

Ok,

2N5115   - not sensitive enough

BC307B  -  pnp silicon (general purpose transistor ?)

LM324N  -   might try to develop an overdrive around this      :?:

LM389N  -   ROG Ruby  :?:

CD4015BE  -  pink noise generators   :?:

CD4013BE  -  octave down + remote switching

CD4049UBE   -  ROG Double D

MC14021BCP -  pink noise generators  :?:

300ohm/600ohm 100mW  -  possible wah inductor

Thanks to all very much  8)  8)  8)  8)

cheers,
mat
