My guitar player has a Marshall Guv'nor that does not worked right. He is a Boss Guy and plugged his -9 volt supply into the +9v pedal. Looking at the schematic, I assume that the op amp would go first :( Anybody have first hand experience.

As an aside, this is a beautifully built pedal. I love how all the components are in one row.

You check for a protection diode [burnt?].
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Marshall pedals are the same as a Boss pedal in that respect, they use a
9v "centre negative" power supply !! ( I have three of them including the original Guv'nor so I know )
The confusing thing is that on those early "black" Guv'nors on the back
it just says  "+9v"   but it  "IS"  centre negative.
So your problem is either, he's used a "centre positive" supply in which case it will most likely only be the power protection diode that blown
or its something else/loose wire or whatever ....

Cheers,
Marty.

Ditto to Marty--I've used my original Guv'nor with a Boss supply olenty of times, works fine.   That's not it.

I've got a gu'nor and a boss power supply as well and it works fine,.

Have you check the jacks?  It may sound stupid but I had problems I couldn't fix with some of my pedals until I found it was a faulty jack, now it's always the first thing I check.

Thanks for all the replies. It is good to know that his Boss power supply will work.

I replaced the opamp and it seems to work now. I hope this effect is supposed to be "over the top".

Hmmm, I don't thnk over the top really characterizes it.  It is an overdrive--somewhere between an overdriven vintage Marshall sound and a tubescreamer with better eq.  Great pedal, IMHO.  The loop is a nice touch, too.

Ok, this one was very over the top. So I took another boo.

Checked the input. About 100mV. Checked pin 1, 2.4V. Wow, turn down the gain. Hmmm, it is all the way down. The gain pot is shot. Open on one side. It looks like the volume pot is going to.

Since I do not have a replacement pot, I soldered two 47k resistors in place. Seems to work now ...... and much less over the top!
