Transparent Colors In Acrylic - Would This Work ?

This may only work for airbrushing as it involves paint mixing, but if you wanted to do a candy color, say candy apple red, would mixing acrylic clearcoat with an amount of acrylic red, look good (transparent red) painted onto a silver base ?

Anyone done it ?

after polishing and and cleaning the enclosure ,i'd thin out the paint, do the box, bake. then hit it w/ clear 3-4 times . baking at a low temp after each coat. not all paints need primer on the box, believe it or not
