Sorry to ask this again, but after searching through the archives, I still am no close to making the Ruby work.
Is it possible to have a bad 386? I actually tried connecting my input directly to pin #2 of the 386, and I still get no signal.
I've checked my wiring 4 times, and I don't see a problem. I'm thinking it must be a bad 386 if I get no output withh the input directly on pin #2, right?

Just for a look see, here are my voltages:

MPF102-
G-0
S-1.78
D-9.12 (newer battery)

LM386:
Pin#
1-1.32
5-4.46
6-9.11
7-4.61
8-1.33

Any suggestions?
Thansks in advance!
Glenn

Hi all-
I found that the amp works with the guitar, but not with a software function generator.
I was trying this piece of software:
http://www.batchconverter.com/TestToneGenerator-download-663.shtml
Just for my curiousity, why won't this amp work with a soundcard output as the test signal?
Is it too much voltage generated by the soundcard output?
I have used the soundcard output for testing all my effects pedals without any problems.
I would just like to know.
Thanks
Glenn

Yup thats it, a guitar is outputting a very small signal voltage, your soundcard will be at least "line level" ie: MUCH BIGGER !!
I run my software "Fender Rhodes" out through my old phase 90 and have to attenuate the level A LOT otherwise it just "breaks up" on input to
the phase 90.
As far as the software mixer is concerned, that Rhodes is almost OFF !!
So your Ruby was just seeing too much voltage on its input.

Cheers,
Marty.
