two question about the next effect to build

I don't know what to build next after ending the effects I'm building.
I'm thinking to BSIAB2.  Everyone seems happy with its tone, and I don't have a distortion pedal.
But I would like to know if:
- it has a good amount of gain.  Could I use it with light, trasparent distortion to an hi-gain one?
- does it sounds good in front of a crunchy amp, or is better to play it with clean tones coming from amp?

And then I'm thinking to a fuzz pedal too.  But I don't want to build something with hard to find transistor, I would like to try fuzzy sounds with a quite simple circuit.
But I want a fat fuzz, less harshy as possible, less '60 as possible.  I would use it for some Queens of the stone age weird tones.
Which one is better for my needs?
