EVH Phase 90

O.k another challenge - true bypassing it. The buffered bypass apparently sounds horrible with humbucker guitars.

Not sure about the old script and block versions but the newer reissues (everything on the board) are a pain in the rear from what I gather.  I had asked about doing that already in another thread.  The easiest thing to do is make a true bypass loop box and run it through there instead.  I believe Fret Wire answered my post.

I believe fx doctor has done it, he charges $45 to do it, but apparently is a real pain in the ass to do.

FX Doctor/nirvanas silence has indeed done it.  It requires butchering the board with a dremel or something, but it can be done.  Almost certainly only worth it if it's the first non-TB pedal in your chain, mine doesn't really suck tone but the phase sound is slightly noticeable in bypass much like a crybaby is noticeable without TB.

OK good news, I got a trace side pic of the P90.  Bad news is that it's the modern PCB mount Dunlop board!!  There was a pic of the Dunlop board posted earlier in this thread, anyone have a larger/clearer pic of it?  I can make out the positions of the components, but not their values.

Anyway I'm going to trace things out, let the thread die to the third or fourth page and I'll bump it back up again when I'm done

I like the blue LED, its nice to see a different color than RED all the time. I changed the colors of all the LEDs on my boss pedals. I have yellows, greens, oranges, blues. I like it, makes my pedalboard colorful!

Sorry I know this thread is a little old but I figured it was on topic and I always wanted to give MXR credit for doing that.

For what it's worth the EVH doesn't sound like my Script.  My script adds a little bit of distortion and a little high end the EVH is too clean it doesn't hae the character that my old one has.  

It's kinda funny that there advertising says the new one adds more low end just like Ed liked but in all of the articles I have read he mentioned that he used the P90 for the added high end for solos and not the Phase effect. :roll:
