Smallbear has a 20 second recorder chip (ISD1020AP) can this be used in place of the ISD1000A ?

If not, is there a source for the ISD1000A chip?

Any build reports out there?

Thanks.

Steve at small bear had the designer Dean Hazelwanter I think thats how its spelled test this chip and said it works well. I guess its the same pinout. I have the GGG pcb and am waiting for my chip from small bear to arrive. I am assuming that it is a direct replacement from what I gathered by Steves post about a week ago.

Ok, sounds good. Do you have any sence as to whether the quality of the loop is high or low? I assume it's 8 bit or smilar quality. I haven't seen any build reprots or samples...

Thanks for your time.

those chips are used in answerphones...

if you look through these data sheets you'll see that all the din chips are compatible...to a point. The ISD1600 seems to be the highest sample rate at 12kHz at 6.6 seconds and its most probably 8 bits which as said above is answer phone quality.I've been looking into this but I've drwn back for the moment but if I go there it'll be with the ISD 2532 which is 8kHz and doing a build based on this.

but basically using the analog in and the outputs dean hazelwood uses.

I already have a partially complete looper that uses any of the  ISD25xx ICs. I occassionly get an inquiry about it so I may get off my duff and finish it.

Yup, it works. Dean tested it, and OK'd it as far as I know.

I looked at the datasheet, and it IS the same chip.. the series is a 10XX chip, either 1016 or 1020, for 16 and 20 second recorders. The AP refers to being DIP, and something else. . . I forget. Perhaps that it's for commercial and not industrial use? The datasheet is out there. . .

Anyway, it works, and I am also stoked about it. I'm making my big small bear order today or tomorrow, which will include all thigns needed for my first 3 projects, and then the mobius Trip. It feels like Christmas, only I'm buying MYSELF gifts. . . Oh wait, it just feels like Christmas.

Hi, just had another question RE: the Mobius.

I'm aware that most of the IC's are compatible, but I wanted to make sure the one i've found is.

Maplin are stocking a number of chips from 10s to 4 minutes, but the 32second chip (more than long enough, and with cool lo-fi frequency response) is an ISD1416P. Will this be compatible?? I checked the sheet and it looks ok, I just wanted to be sure.

Thanks for the help guys,

Not directly pin compatible.  Do a search for "mobius looper" or "ISD1000A" and you should get plenty of info.
