I was thinking earlier today about using two amps in sequence with each other to create more wattage. The way i was thinking how you could do it would be to get two amp circuits and make one take the siganal from the guitar and have that signal going through that circuit and then to the other circuit which then amplifies it again and then puts it through to a speaker.

Would this work?

You're talking about connecting the speaker output of the 1st amp into the guitar input of the 2nd amp?

um, don't do that!

That will undoubtedly destroy the 2nd amplifier in a very fast and spectacular fashion.

Guitar signals are very, very low in voltage. Like, much less than 0.5V.

A speaker output is very HIGH in voltage. Like, even modest 25W amp driving an 8ohm speaker is somewhere in the vicinity of 15V. More than 30 times higher than a guitar signal!

The "line out" (if one exists) or "headphone" would be nice to go to a clean channel on 2nd amp.
Plexi heads are superior in solving this problem since each amp has two connected jacks per channel input. Simply connect wires between inputs o those amps!

Do you think it would really be spectacular?  I figured it would probably just quietly wreck the other amp.   :D

No, indeed.  While's you'll certainly break the amp, you might get a small 'pop' as some resistors or caps explode, a whiff of smoke, and if you're really unlucky, a terribly foul stench.  Not worth the effort.  If you want to spectacularly destroy an amp, I'd recommend a hatchet or skillsaw.  :)

Mikey, my buddy used to use that trick.
Awful noisy, VERY Touchy [lol] on the volume knob of the first amp, and got touchier it seemed, it was supposed to have sounded cool for a minute or something like that.
I guess it's kind of fun the first time, if you're bored and have old stereo's to burn.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

well it depends on how hard you try and the specs of the first amp!!

Put it this way, I've seen a guy weld two pieces of metal together with an unterminated speaker cable just to demonstrate the robustness of the amplifier... that was pretty spectacular!
