Happy weekend everyone!

I'm not trying to copy EMG pickups, but I would like to remove the ground from my bridge and strings as an active pickup allows. Is there a tiny circuit that would do this?

If so, EMGs are said to get 1500hrs/pair from a 9v battery... is that possible from this circuit also?

Thanks!

I've been told that the reason EMG actives don't need a bridge ground is the shielding designed into the pickup coils (that's internet info, so don't rely on its accuracy too much). In my experience with onboard buffers and preamps used with standard pickups, they don't change the need for shielding in any meaningful way. FWIW, active EMGs are the only pickups I wire without a bridge ground.

lovecraft--yes, there is always a better alternative than cascode. though it is an interesting configuration.

Who's PRR anyway?

PRR is a design "guru" who's a mod on a Pro Audio forum I visit regularly (The Lab/ Group DIY) - he probably wouldn't appreciate the guru title, but like you, puretube, Mark Hammer, RG, Stephen Giles and a bunch of others around here, I'm constantly learning from his posts, and the quote was simply too good to pass up!
