IN/OUT buffer for distortion pedals in front of solid state

Anyone has opinion on this issue? I'll try in few words to describe.
I have a solid state Marshall G30 with decent clean channell. I noticed that  only two distortion pedals worked well in front of this amp -  Sansamp GT2 and DOD FX69 Grunge. Both of these two as well as most of Boss and DOD distortions have input and output buffers.
Others like fuzzes and FET circuits I own that originally dont have buffers
sound like a terrible, the worst crappy solid state distortion you can imagine. They sound just tiny bit better with volume
pots almost all the way down. Still awful sounding.
i'll try to make sort of universal in/out buffer box,
I'd still like to hear some opinions on this to encourage me.
Most of you hopefully cant imagine having a great distortion box that causes severe pain in your head and heart when you play it.
