Excessive Battery Drain?

hey now,
my band played last nite and the other guitar player's Boss DD-3 went thru 3 battery's in 3 hours. where would i start in debugging. grounds first i suspect, but what else might it be? thanks for the help. peace, waldo

 Some effects are battery CHOMPERZ, they just put the battery jack on 'because'...

thanks pete. it is a digital delay.  i will pass that on as i do believe it works. if i do recall at rehearsels he does power supply it, so maybe it is one of those CHOMPERZ. peace, waldo
