Hello, friends!

I just purchased a 1969 Fender Rhodes piano. There is a transistor on the circuit board that comes right off the line in from the harp called SU722. My room mate burned it while working on this piano. I can't find a new one anywhere. It's an old Ge tranny. Can someone help me sub this out with a modern part? Here is the schematic:

Oh yeah, it's a JFET

Oh yeah, it's not in the '78 transistor sub handbook, or on the Internet

Also, I can supply voltages at the transistor if that would help you make the sub. This is about all the info I have to give.

Is the jfet actually marked with su722? It could be a factory part designation instead of the actual tranny type.

What makes you think it is a germanium-type? Never heard of a Ge-FET... and the rest of the transistors seem to be silicon-types. Shoot in the dark and try any cheap P-channel jFET.
Kindest regards, Bernt.

I guess it might be Si. It just has the same type of round can as most Ge transistors I have looked at. The can is marked with SU722.

Hi

Take Bernt's advice.

J177 should do just fine
