hi,
I am building a Vox CLyde McCoy like hendrix's.  I heard various things about transistors to be used in wah.  FuzzCentral says Bc109 or Bc173.
Ariel FX told me to use BC108's.

Also Ariel Fx said to get them with around 300hfe for good bass tone.
FuzzCentral says he used 400 for Q1 and Q2 388. (or something like that)

My question is:
Would a higher gain like 400 make more bass or less?
Also, anybody know what the original Clydes had as far as hfe and what transistors?

Any replies from expeirence building a wah or modding the transistors would be helpful.

i will probably get the GGG board.  Anybody built a CLyde McCoy using the GGG wah board?

thanks

vanessa

I'm not really sure if they change the bass. I've tried several types of tranny's in my wahs and at best I've found more or less gain depending on the type.

I would look into adjusting the sweep cap to your flavor of bass as this can get you a more filtered bass tone.

i have another question about clyde mccoy wahs,

I know roger mayer did some mods to hendrix's fuzface but what about  his wah?  Is it worth it to build a wah with some of the resistors as mounted trim pots?

thanks :D

i read probably most of the wah threads on this forum, but if anybody comes across a good clyde mccoy wah thread please post

there is a simple mod that I like for almost any wah, try it!

It makes the wah more harmonically rich, even the low end sounds better, and the high end does not get more harsh in my experience.
my life is a tribute to the the great men and women who held this country together when the world was in trouble. my debt cannot be repaid, but i will do my best.
