Hi there,

I just built myself a BSIAB II and I love it.  I was wondering though... and this could be a huge question... I have a Crate GX-80 with a celestion equipped.  I really like the clean sound, it is really good for a solid state amp.  However, the distortion channel sucks big time.  I was wondering... just wondering... if it would be possible to "cancel" the original gain channel and "replace" it with the BSIAB II circuit INTO the amp so I could switch from clean to BSIAB II with my amp control switch.  Another problem is that I don't have a schematic yet, but I am just wondering if it is possible to do.

Thanks for any reply,

Page three has a block diagram...since this amp has a shared channel buffer, it makes your life more difficult.

I'd say carefully try to sort though the amp's preamp, and find where the buffer is, and where the eq's are for both channels...some guts shots would be nice...then just try to pick out the distortion channel.

EDIT: There's one other thing you can do. Find the channel selector switch. Once you've found it, cut the trace that takes connects it to the distortion channel. Now put the BSIAB II in there, and solder it's output to the place on the switch the dist. channel used to go to. Then solder the input of the BSIAB II to to the input jack (the BSIAB doesn't need a buffer before it).

Cheers,

Nish

Hey dude,

thanks a lot! I'll try to find the switch connection since it looks like the simplest thing to do.  I think I can do it this way, it's a great idea!

Thanks again!
