lefty idiot wah

as promised, here are my mods to the omnipotent Tim Escobedo's Idiot.

it is not a wah, but more of an 'effect'. the guitar sounds more or less normal, but kinda says 'wow' in the middle of the sweep

I deliberately modded it to do this, *do not try this at home* if you need a regular wah

On thursday i built this into a mostly stock crybaby that was modded with two pots ( second pot on a little rack screwed into the shell, both pots share one gear)

I installed separate in/ out jacks for the idiot so i can run it before or after the crybaby. this also allows other pedals to be inserted between the two wah circs

The goal was to hear what the 'wow' of the lefty idiot sounded like when run at the same time as a regular wah.

it took some time to tune the sweet spot of each circuit's control pot on the gear relative to each other, but the result was a very interesting sound.

the two pot arrangement has an advantage over a dual gang - the tuning is not possible with a dual gang pot , the pots must be turned at different points in the rotation.

I like running a treble boost after the CB and before the lefty idiot, since the lefty idiot does not have much treble pop on it's own.
Overall it is a unique wah sound, very vocal and sweet ( the two wahs together)

the idiot wah run by iteslf is really nice, it can be used as a sort of manual trem as well, since it doesn't really wah like a wah. as it i hits its resonant peak it causes Od pedals to break up so it has an organic  cleanish /dirtyish trem pulse sound.
