howdy!
I have a couple of questions. I am new to here and have a couple of questions.  I have a proco rat "R2DU" radckmount pedal which is baiscally 2 vintage rats in one rack. I want to cut the circuit board in half (it's about 12"  by 3") and place the circuit board in a hammond-type rehouse box so I can have a 2 stage OD. HOWEVER, my three questions are

1. Can you cut the traces on the circuit board and then reattach them with wire and solder?
2. I want to place a 500 ohm trim pot in the place of a 47 ohm resistor,
is it possible to attach something like this backwards? And similar to this question,
3. Is it possible to tell which way the signal flows on the board with an ohm meter or by the way that components are placed?

Yes

Not sure what you mean by backwards?

Use an audio probe. Link available on the front page of this site. Trace the signal.

nelson,
thank you very much for your help.

Hi walmarx,

I'm very interesting in cloning the proco rat "R2DU" radckmount pedal! I just want to known if you could make a schematic or a photo of the interior or btw  from the PCB of the rack!

Thanks

Hey Wally,
Hope I'm not too late on this. For another option to cutting circuit board traces, check out the Deucetone - it looks like ProCo already makes what you're after, and it allows you to select between four types of clipping stages. Can be cascaded or run in stereo.

If you haven't started cutting, this will let you keep your R2DU intact. However, I think it's somewhat expensive and you could be better off buying two rats, or selling the r2du to finance it. Or, as always, DIY it and let the R2DU have it

FYI, after trying all types of knives and saws, I can safely say that in my experiance, nothing cuts a PCB like a rotary (dremmel) tool with a cheap cutoff disk :-D.

I agree, Hal. I use the same combination. I also use the cutoff wheel for sawing 6-pin IC sockets into two transistor sockets.
