Suscess in the local market selling hand built pedals

So I live in the LA/Ventura area of CA so we have quite a selection of music stores here. I was thinking of selling my fuzz/distortion pedals locally and on ebay. Anyone have any suscess doing this kind of thing? Are customers more attracted to gimmics like weird box colors and packaging? Any just general tips?

you want to catch peoples eyes and make them try the pedal, so looking unique in some way is always a good thing - zvex pedals for instance

try and keep everything as pro looking as possible, soeone is much more likely to try a pedal if it loks decent and well made, and not obviously made in someones garage (even if it is)

have a chat with the shops too, see what they say
