Dual gang pots, how they work?

I built a Skyripper Fuzz and it called for a 1 Meg "Dual Gang" pot. I actually just wired up two 1M pots as on the schematic below. It works great but just wondering how each side of an actual dual gang reacts when turning the knob. Does one increase while the other decreases or do they both increase/decrease at the same time? Thanks for any help.

depends on how you wire them!

On the schematic link above, I wired them like this:

First pot (farthest left on schem):
Lug 1 to ground
Lug 2 to 10uf and Base of Q1
Lug 3 to Lug 1 of second pot and input

Second pot:
Lug 1 to lug 3 of first pot and input
Lug 2 to one side of S3
Lug 3 to Emitter of Q1

I know that's confusing, sorry. I already ordered a 500K dual gang from Small bear yesterday (closest he had to 1M) but I was just thinking I might keep it as is, by maybe getting some settings/sounds from independantly turning both pots in a way I won't be able to with a Dual Gang Pot when both move together. Thanks
