I'm thinking about building the Big Daddy overdrive from here http://www.runoffgroove.com/grace.html

I'm pretty new to this, and dont know exactly what a JFET is or how it works.  The only electronics store around me is radioshack, and no one there really knows whats going on.  The only thing with fet in it was this, and i was wondering if anyone knew if i could use it as a jfet.

Aron sells them pretty cheap here.... here is a link - http://www.diystompboxes.com/cart/  (scroll down B170)

Radioshack sells the MPF102 or something like that. It should work as a replacement for a J201. Ive used it as a replacement for a J201 before so no biggie. It might sound...a little different, but you probably wont even notice. I dont...

BTW the BS170 is a MOSFET not a JFET. Not the same thing...

OOPS!!!  Sorry I posted in a hurry... I meant the J201s not the B170...

Use the J201 from aron if you can the mpf102 is way to expensive from the snack shack...As always watch the pinouts DSG get them right :? ...Usually you can find an electronics store around somewhere if you can get the NTE458 a little expensive too but better gain for this circuit...I think the MPF102 will work in fact I am sure but they lack in gain unless you use them in staging :D
practice cause time does not stop...
