Hello,
I'm going to buy an audio card for my pc, an EMU 0404.  I can't still make a decision between guitarport from line 6 and a good audio card to control Amplitube and other modelling softwares.

But, since I'm not going to buy an external audio device with buil tin input for guitar, I need a pre to connect guitar to line in of the audio card (jack 1/4" plug).

What do I need?  A Di box?  A pre?  A mixer?
Or my miy AMZ mini booster will do this work?

Thanks a lot.

Try AMZ Mosfet Booster. I've been using it as a mic/guitar pre for recording to my audio card. For DI guitar recording its very well suited and will not change your tone like the mini-booster would.

For mics it's a little on the noisy side as you have to crank up the gain...

Hi, a very simple buffer will work, you don't need so much gain  to allow stock pickups to drive audio interfaces to a reasonable level. A stock pickup that’s not being loaded down can generate a fairly hefty peak output (around 2-3 V).
