8 stage analog sequencer

hi I recently built r.g. keens 8 stage analog sequencer, i used a mc14060 and a scl4051be chip, The circuit didnt work for me cause I believe the chips have to be cd4051 and cd4060, ( gotta order them) Just wondering if anyone has gotton this circuit to run with success? and any tips are welcomed.

googling for the datasheets....
both IC #s seem to B the same.
example:  mc14060 & CD4060- both are 14stage binary counters
with internal oscillator.

Get the datasheets *in front* of U while U build.
If U build it (correctly), it *will* work.

The generic part numbers are 4051 and 4060. Motorola put an "MC1" in front of all those generic numbers. The "B" at the end means that it's a buffered function. The first generation of CMOS didn't include output buffers which made for horrible drive capability. Subsequently just about ALL CMOS chips ended up with them and the only unbuffered ones now have a "UB" on the end. The "E" on the end of your SCL4051BE refers to the package, in this case a plastic DIP. Different makers use different letters for different packages.

Here are are few of the 4051s you can expect to run into. They're all the same chip functionally. In some cases we tend to abuse chips around here, namely the 4049 and 4069, and those are about the only times where the letters on either side of the generic part number will make a difference at all.

"the dude"...  now thats a name no one would self apply where I came from (Cah-li-forn-yaw).

I'm wondering if anyone reading this has made RG's sequencer, I had a weird problem with mine where it would cycle strangely, like not go back to step one (12345678, 5678,5678), sometimes.  Other times it works fine.  Glitchy logic?
