Dod 250 wiring question

Hi everyone,

I just bought a used dod 250 from someone last night, who said that his tech modded the pedal.  he wasn't very clear as to what the tech actually did, other than removing the RED wire from the little jack type thing coming from the pcb.  He says that his tech made it so he could use the level knob as a volume control on his amp....

This sounds strange to me, wouldn't the level always function as a volume, or boost or whatever?

Anyways, i'm really curious as to what this red wire went to.

So, coming out of the white plastic plug that connects to the pcb, i've got a grey wire running to the switch, a white one that goes to the ac adapter socket, a green one that also goes to the socket, the stub of the cut red wire, and a black wire that goes to the other end of the switch.


I'm not very well versed in electronics, and can't read a schematic, so that's no help.  But i'm hoping that someone on this board who has this pedal, can open theirs up and tell me where the wires coming from the pcb are supposed to go

By the way, it's the newer yellow one, and it still works the way it is, but i'm just really curious as to what this guy did.

Interesting.... I only have the four wires you describe, no red wire. The only red wire is from the battery connection.

yeah, i posted the same question on another forum, and someone else replied that they only have 4 wires too...

So it looks like whatever the mod was, it was removed.

Man, I wish I had a camera so I could show it to you.  The area I'm talking about has a white plastic female part with the 5 wires coming out of it, which connects to 5 metal pins coming from the circuit board.  It looks like it's an original part, with just one wire clipped.  

The guy i bought it from obviously doesn't know what he's talking about, and his tech probably just charged him for a bunch of smoke and mirrors

So does yours have that same white plastic socket type thing with 4 wires coming out of it instead of 5, or are your wires soldered directly to the board?

I have the white connector. The DOD 250 only uses 4 of the 5 available connections. If you look on the component side of the board, you might see if anything it connected to the fifth connector with the red stub (pin 2)

1 Black = OUT
2 Empty
3 Green = +9
4 White = GND
5 Grey = IN

I've done a lot of mods on a lot of 250's, and this sounds like a hoax to me.
