shielded wire?

hi guys,
I have some shielded wire from SB, really Quality!!

I want to use it for wiring the in and out jacks and what ever else would be good to wire that way.  But, what wires should be shielded wire to reduce hum?  Only the ground wires going to each in and out jack?  Or all the wires going to the jacks?  What about the dc adaptor jack?  What about wires going to the 3PDT switch.

The only ones I have ever shielded were in the in and out wires from the jack to switch and from the switch to board.

I use a metal box so hum is not usually a problem for me.

Yeah i use metal boxes too, but i thought you were still supposed to shield input  and output jack wires,  But that sounds more correct what you said:

For some reason i thought i should shield the wires going to the jacks,  :oops:

formerMember1, re-read Aron's post. He does say to use shielded wire from switch to jack on input & output besides from board to switch.

Oh jeeze MARKF  you are right, i am sorry, I can't think straight for some reason today.  

I do have one other question though,

Do i use the wire as a normal wire?  Or do i have to strip the outer black rubber casing, and reveal the silver shieled part and solder that to ground ,then remove more black rubber casing, then use the very innards of that wire and solder that to where i need to?

Or do i just use the very innards of the wire?

Use the center conductor as you would any other wire. For the shield connect it to ground at only one end. I usually ground it at the end the signal is coming from. For example; circuit board to switch, I ground at PCB. I have heard some debate about which end gets grounded or if both ends get grounded. That is the way I do it and it makes sense to me & it works. Hope that helps. :wink:
