Hello all, nice to be back

I have a dumb question regarding audio probes;
Is it ok to use a high-voltage rated cap for a 9v circuit investigation?

I have a 1000V 20% 0.005uF ceramic disc  and a mica 500V 10 pF;

Is any of these suitable for the stombox audio probe? which is better?

thanks for any information!

Use the Farad value which works for the application. As long as the voltage capability is above the amount you're working with, you're in good shape. The fact that it might handle 100x the voltage in your circuit has no bearing on its performance.

If your probing application is searching for lost signal, ceramic/mica/mono/film... there's no difference. But if you'd like specifics on the different capacitor materials related to their "sounds", check this out:

i, myself, use a .01 uF. using that ceramic disc will roll off alot of bass, and using the silver mica one will roll off a TON. as values in capacitors go down, lower frequencies haveless ease at transferring across the cap.
