I drew a schemo for my fave Bazz Fuss values with Pete's darlington for low gain germaniums added on.  I won't be able to try it out until later this week, but thought I'd post it in case anyone with some NPN germs wants to try it out too.  The ones I have are Mazda blue-spots with gains of 40 (also a tad leaky), but I was also thinking this design could be turned into a PNP circuit to make it more compatible to whatever germs folks may have lying around.  The metalized polyproplene caps aren't manditory, but I've found that they seem to respond much better to low end fuzz than electrolytics.

I occured to me I could have used a Ge for the second half of the Darlingtrainsistor...I'm saying it 'sounds' more Ge than Si, I don't know why other than the tone of it....maybe the 100k and small bypass cap.
Anyway it sounds just great, and is at least of the highest output of all my Rangemaster attempts, even using a 1n input cap I'm getting a good bit above unity output.
I've redone so many RM's I can't coun't 'em, I'm leaving this one as loved, and in the box.

Is this one designed for bass or guitar (still on some hunt for bass fuzzes) ;)

Yep, it's for bass guitar.

I don't own a regular guitar, so everything I do is for bass.  8)
