I'm going to build this baby here :P But... i've got few concerns. I really want to add an led for the grit switch. Any idea how I can do it without modifying the pcb? I am using the layout where you etch your own board. Oh yeah, I couldn't find the switches that were listed, so I plan on replacing them with a dpdt switch. (i am going to wire the switches and pots).

Oh yeah, I also can't find the mpf102, so if I replace it with a bc549, will it be ok?

Adding an LED for a grit indicator should be no problem. Just replace the SPST switch with a double pole switch.

As Jeff said, should be easy since you're using DPDT switches anyway.  Wire one pole up as seen in the wiring diagram, and wire the other pole from the cathode (negative) lead of the led to ground.  The other side of the led will go to 9v.  Make sure you put a current limiting resistor on one lead of the led (doesn't matter which).

None of this will have any effect on the pcb.  Enjoy!  It's a fun little amp project.
