I inherited a bunch of "vintage" components...are any useful for effects?

Noplasticrobots

My electrician/pack rat of a grandpa finally decided to give up some of his electrical components. I figured some might be of use for effects building, but I'm not too sure. Based on the packaging, I'm guessing almost all these parts were made in the late 60's to mid 70's. If anyone can tell me what's useful for effects making I'd be much appreciative.

A few enevelopes of diodes:

Some transistors and either a diode or some odd resistor. Note that the diode/resistor has a yellow "H" marked on it. On the back of the blue paper it says that they are rated for 1000VDCW and have a ±%10.

I was told that most of these components came from a TV repair shop. Later tonight I'll be sorting through some ICs and a bunch of old ceramic disc caps and I'll post them later.

I love the smell of solder in the morning.

Hmm, Darlington germanium PNP array... drool... (this is a Homer DIY quote)

looks like you have mostly logic ICs there...anything starting with 40 is ususally CMOS logic, and anything with 74 is TTL logic.

the transistors look like a score, though.  a simple google search for the part number will ususally tell you if they're Ge, Si...high/low gain...those are the only really important stompbox characteristics :-D.  That and tone.
