fatboost diode

Hello!
I'm building the fatboost clone from the GGG site. http://generalguitargadgets.com/diagrams/joam_lo_sm_b.gif It calls for a 1N4005 diode. I have a 1N4001 diode. Will this work in it's place? Will it affect the tone or is it simply to prevent battery/power hookup mishaps? THANKS!!!!

Any of the "1N400*" series will be fine....
