I know the major, or maybe only, circuit difference between the TS 808 and TS 9 is the two resistors right at the end of the circuit.  The 'better' 808 circuit has a 10k resistor to ground at that point and drives a tube amp better with a lower output impedance than the TS 9 does with a 100k resistor at that point.  Low output impedance good, high input impedance good.  At least that's how I think it should go from what I've read.
My home-made Screamer has the 808 spec parts but it's always plugged into a couple of BOSS pedals and then a tube amp.  Never right into the tube amp. So would I be better off with the 470/100k TS 9 combination rather than the 100/10k TS 808 values?

Only way to tell is try and swap out the two resistors, and see what happens,(unless someone speaks from expierence)
I would record with just the TS into amp, then record with TS into amp with Boss pedals in your chain but not ON.  THen swap the resistors, and do the same as above.

Best thing to do is let your ears decide..... The TS808 also has a different chip than the TS9, but personally i like the TS9 chip better, but you could swap the chip with a texas instruments 4558 chip, People rave about the JRC4558D chip as being good, but not the new manufactured ones.  I never tried the TI4558 chip, but have it on order to try.  Keeley talks about the Texas Instr.... chip as being better than the reissue chips in the reissue TS808 pedals.

hope this helps.  :D

PS:i don't like the JRC4558 chip, too warm and muddy, no life to it!!  <<<<guess opinions vary though,
