I'm having some trouble to mod my Crybaby.

My Wah is a Dunlop GCB-95.

I turned it to true bypass.
Changed the stock pot and inductor for Fulltone.
The stock 1.5K resistor between the emitter of Q2 is now 2.2K
The 33K resistor in parallel with the inductor is now 47K
The 68K input resistor is now 47K
The 390ohm resistor at the emitter of Q1 is now 470ohm

I tried changing the sweep cap from the stock 0.01uF to 0.012uF but it sounded very bassy, and out of the correct effect range to me, so I came back to 0.01uF

I changed the stock transistors to 2N5089

I did not remove the buffer. Removing it can really improve my tone?

Now I have two problems.

The effect has a frequency peak that sounds like a presence boost.

When a I turn on the wah, I hear a loud pop.

I tried to put a 1M resistor linking the output to the ground but the POP is still there.

Thank you very much

You need a pull down resistor at the input and output. I've indicated where they go in this photo. There is an un-used hole at the top of the cap on the right that you can solder the resistor to. Since the pedal is true bypass now you should remove the buffer since it isn't needed.

removing the buffer will CHANGE the tone, but if its an improvment ore not, you'll have to try and decide for yourself.

without the buffer, the unit loads down the guitarsignal. especialy the higher frequencys, making it a little softer.
keepeng the buffer, you get a lot more treble going into the wha ( and comming out of it too..) making it a little more agressive .

I prefere it WITH the buffer, but many people like it without..I guess its more "vintage"...but sometimes "improvments" that come along now and the actualy improve things..but then again..try both and then make up your own mind..

I have a 1M resistor on the output (red line in the picture). Can I leave this one there, and just put the other?

Any idea about the presence peak I'm hearing?
The 2N5089 transistors are ok to this circuit?
