Yup.  It's because you have the absolute URL to them being diypedals.com.  Didn't you shut down that domain name?

Example:
http://diypedals.com/Smileys/default/cool.gif

Using relative URL's is much better, and easier to maintain.

Yes. It seemed to have happened when the host switched servers. It feels like they are not being found thus timing out which means they get replaced by text. Did the icon images get moved to the new server too ? Permissions ?
