Bluesbreaker oddities

Hi all,

Ive been playing around with my DIY bluesbreaker pedal (I), and a couple of things are apparent to me:

i) The things has a lot of treble to offer, which is cool, but when in bypass mode, the clean sound is also a bit more trebbly! (is that even a word?)

ii) If my amp is on OD, and i use it, with the gain set nearly all the way up, there is virtually no noticeable difference. Plus sometimes, with the gain 25 - 50% on (pedal), on the clean channel of my amp, the volume is nearly max, and im wondering if i could "run out" of volume if my amp was louder??? (sounds odd)

iii) Also i notice no frequency filters on the input, apart from the 0.01uF cap and 2.2M resistor, which, if my maths is correct, form a high-pass filter set at 7.2 Hz <- is this correct. I am planning a different input, with filters set at 20Hz and 20000Hz.

I'd be grateful for any feedback.

Roobin,

A couple of weeks back you suggested that I try this pedal. I'm looking for clean tone with a good bit of bite.  I ordered the ready to solder board from GGG and I should receive the components, box, etc. from Small bear.

Any helpful hints on construction?  Do you like the pedal?

Actually, I've been meaning to email JD at GGG, as there is an error in the bill of materials. There is a capacitor missing in the BOM, a 0.01uF cap on the left side. However, check this, as I might not be correct.

BTW have you had the chance to try one out?

Roobin,

I discovered the missing capacitor last night as I was checking the components I had recieved from Small Bear.  I emailed JD this morning.  I actually haven't had the opportunity to try one out.  I read the reviews on Harmony-Central and then listened to the samples at Tone-Frenzy. It certainly sounds what I'm looking for, so I decided to go for it. I'm excited about building this pedal. I'm going to start this weekend.
