I have been advised as a novice of DIY effects to try building the nurse quacky auto wah.

Is she any good though?

Yes, but not everyone knows how to work this category of effect properly.  The Q/Quack group (Dr. Q, Dr. Quack, Nurse Quacky) are fun, simple, cheap pedal, but they require more planning to use than a fuzz, and often require some post-construction tweaking for satisfying sound.  If that doesn't deter you, then have at it.

Mine worked fine the first time around. Sounds great. Fun pedal. I was lucky though to have it work this great the first time, because my tweeking skills in this aren't that good.
If I can do it, than anyone can, you should try it.

Nurse Quacky was my first build, and it was a pretty good introduction. I'd probably recommend your build it on vero board though, mostly because in retrospect, i wish i had. Good luck!
