Ok, first post here, and first build finished!!..Ok my first guitar oriented build anyway, i have built some other equipment before. Mostly microphone preamps.

Its a ROG Ruby, and it sounds great btw!

Pictures will follow soon!

So now is the time for messing around, and modding (which i know all of you love... :icon_mrgreen:)

Anyways, here are the questions:

I want to try a fetzer valve circuit together with a ruby (or atleast something with a 386 for the amplification).

Now im thinking: Would it be better to just put a fetzer valve infront of input of the ruby, or would i be better off to build a fetzer/ruby combo like the one ROG has in their FAQ?

Do i substitute the jfet buffer for the fetzer, or put the fetzer before the jfetbuffer?

Question nr2: Preferrably i would like to mod my existing ruby build so that i can switch between a fetzer sound, and a stock ruby sound, but im not shure how this would work.

The fetzer/ruby amp from the faq uses a 100k pot for volume, and the stock ruby a 10k.. Is it possible to substitute the pot from one of these circuits so that i can swith between the different sounds with something like a DPDT switch? How would i wire this? (I dont suppose any of you guys could make me a sketch  ;) ?)

Thanks alot for any help, and thanks for letting me hang out here!

Just my opinion, but I would stick the fetzler in front of the ruby buffer. Wire it true bypass like a stompbox and you can easlily switch between Stock Ruby and Fetzler/Ruby.
Shoot straight you bastards. Don't make a mess of it. -Last words of Breaker Morant

Hmm Squid...Octafish....who's next? HA!
Ummm....pardon if I'm obvious...but did you (Jonkan) see the circuit that uses a Fetzer *front end* for the Ruby?  I mention it because it's sorta hidden in the FAQ page at runoffgroove.

Jonkan

Thanks!
Yeah, ive seen the schematic in the faq.

I want to be able to switch between fetzer+ruby and just ruby.

So i either stick the fetzer infront of the ruby. Or i have to figure out a way to switch between the rubys input buffer, and the fetzer.

octafish recommends putting the fetzer infront of the ruby. Has anyone tried this, how does it sound? Anyone compared it to just the fetzer instead of the ruby buffer on input?

Theres not alot of space in my ruby box, so prefferably i would like to use two pots in total, and not three.  Plus, i just ran out of the nice knobs my father made himself at his fathers machineshop when he was young.

So, is there some way to substitute the volume pot or wire it so that it would fit both the fetzer and the ruby jfet buffer?

btw, i like this little amp so much, that i have decided to build some more for christmas presents for my family.

Thanks for any help!
