Yeah, and there's only 4 electros as opposed to 6 on the schematic. My guess is that they swapped  the 6.4uF and the 25uF on the collector of Q3 for the 470nFs.
It looks like the rest of the caps almost match the schematic, there's 2 100nFs, 2 10nFs and 2 220nFs, which match 0.01, 0.1 and 0.22uFs on the schematic. One of the electros is a 10uF though, but I can't figure out which one it is.

short buildreport---
this afternoon i built the csound overdriver, i had made some changes to the original verolayout to make it smaller, and then i spent some time finding my own selfmade bugs that i had added in the process...well, now it´s working, and i think i like it pretty much. only had a go in my "lab" with a guitar, though, no bass yet. i added a 100k vol pot (thanks aron). i think it will work well in front of a tube amp with a guitar, the tone controls are very amp-like, i used bc-109b´s, had to substitue all the 25µF electros with 22µF´s though. wonder if this has an audible impact ?
one of the days to come i have to put the thing in a box and have a real go at testing.
thanks for the initial verolayout, aron and slacker !

cheers,

Hi All

If anybody is interested here's some useful information I have dug up from the Archive.

From Phillip (Fuzz central) errors in original schematic as compared to reissue (Sorry I don't know how to make a direct quote.. :icon_rolleyes:  )

Now, the errors are as follows from left to right...
1) 200 pF ceramic to emitter of Q1 should be 500 pF...
2) 120K resistor on collector of Q1 should be 100K...
3) 25 uF electrolytic going to the gain pot should be 10 uF...
4) gain pot should be 2.2K...NOT 10K...(2K will obviously work)
5) 6.4 uF on collector of Q2 should be 4.7 uF...
6) 25 uF going to .22 output cap should be 4.7 uF...
7) original trannys were BC169C and BC184C...they never used the low gain BC109's...

Apparently there was a schematic over at Fuzz central but when I looked it was no longer there, or maybe I did not look enough.

inclueds a pcb transfer.  If some one could tell me what size the layout should be scaled I might give the one a go.
Although I note that there is no pull down resistor on the input.

In that case where should I locate the transistores? In the available schematic is BC109 in all positions?

I ordered them already, damn....

- No worries just socket the transitors and try different types.

Looking at the figure for hfe form the Phillips data sheets you can see that the BC109C have the same hfe range as the BC169C, it is also a low noise transistor 4dB, not sure about the other two.

hfe         min - max
BC169C  420 - 800
BC184C  240 - 900
BC109C  420 - 800 typical 520

2N5088  300 - 900
2N8089  400 - 1200
MPSA18  500 - 1500

The others below are some alternates, you may like to try.  You could try mix and matching them in different positions to see what effect that has on the sound. :icon_twisted:

Thats what is so good about building your own - you get to tailor the sound that fits your idea of what you want.

If you want the classic stock effect then go with the BC109C's I don't think that you will notice the difference.

Thanks for the info KB, I don’t wish to doubt Phillip’s skills but I wonder if he meant .47uF not 4.7uF then everything would match the photo that  Bernardduur posted.
I think I might have to build this over Christmas and see if the different caps actually make much difference.
Might revise the vero layout as well, I think I can make it a bit smaller :)

Thanks for the info. I'm getting into it more and more, but still...  :icon_mrgreen:. Can't wait to hear how it sounds

hi guys,
i´m a bit confused here if these changes refer to the original layout that is posted here: http://home.hawaii.rr.com/stompbox/CSOVR.JPG
i exchanged the gain pot to 2.2K log, and the electro next to it to 10uF. now it starts to distort earlier, me thinks. the taper of the pot feels funny, in the last millimeters of the turn there´s a huge distortion boost. maybe it is linear, because on the pic that bernarddur posted, it says 2.2KA and in europe B is for log and A is for linear (don´t know if the same applies to the UK, though).
also i used bc109b´s, which have hfe around 300 (at least mine, i measured them). couldn´t get 109c´s anywhere.

-update-
i just changed the gain pot to 2.2 lin instead of 2.2 log, much better distribution of gain imho
