I need a 2 or 3 inch speaker for my little gem project...any idea where I can get one?

Maybe from inside one of those tiny external computer desktop speaker boxes?
Unless you need to have a stompswitch, maybe you could build the whole thing inside an old computer speaker box!

I always like the little bit more substantial speakers for guitar...
Radios, Tv's, computer speakers, answering machines...I think the Radio and TV ones sound the better of these types, the voice ones usually just kind of ratte at certain frequencies.
Using more than one [watch the ohmage] may improve bass response/volume.

So...no where you can buy a small speaker?  And I'm not looking for amazing sound quality...I just want to be able to hear all the strings.  I found one inch speakers at radioshack, but they only go down to 300hz...so I don't even think you could hear the 2 lower guitar strings at all, never mind any kind of quality.

Parts Express is worth a look.  In particular, check out the "buyouts" page:
4" speaker 75-15,000Hz 10watts... $0.49US.   :icon_exclaim:

I saw Rundgren play through 5'' speakers [mostly].
There were a vast array of cabinets to each side of the stage, each containing no less/no more than 25 [what looked like] 5'' speakers. No horns. Amazing sound, had some kind of pulse wave it was putting out that was mezmerizingly stunning.
Somewhere there are very small speakers that rival the performance in other categories except volume output per driver...one would think.
Saw an amp for 20 at GC, it had a dinky driver in it.

How long ago was that, Pete?  I've seen him four or five times between the years of 1986-2000.  The 12-member-band tours, the solo TR-i tour, the "I hate my friggin ISP" tour (whatever it was actually called).  Always a great show.

Regarding the small speaker thing.  I think it was Electronic Musician that published an article on building cabinets with 8 or 16 4" Pioneer drivers.  I bought one of those drivers in the mid 80's and it's still just a raw driver sitting on my workbench.   :icon_redface:  Somehow I've managed to move five times without damaging it.
