I have found a kit for a wah wah and i figured i might as well try it. The only problem i see is that the thing is adjusted by a pot rather than a button. Is there a button i can use or another option so that i can use this effect effectivly without growing a third hand

Thanks

I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem as if you know how a wah pedal works. A wah pedal lets your foot rock the pot back and forth, like turning the pot with your foot. This is different from an auto-wah, or envelope wah, which automatically makes wah sounds based on your guitar signal's volume.

  Mechanical potdriver...wah case...most common solution
Non mechanical non pot wah...uses LED/LDR's or...MAgnetic...where was that? both are Trickier electronics wise, no moving parts :icon_cool:.
I never delved into push button adjustment switches [like how you adjust your TV volume/channel/etc. these days, instead of leanin/walking over to twist the pot like the old days]. Bummer, cause TV's used to generate alot of pot makin' needs, actual pots are becoming a small percentage of the 'adjustment hardware' options used.
Those push buttons require their own power source and circuitry...designed differently than what would use pots...ie you can't put a pot where the buttons are for a 'button' circuit, and you can't but button adjustments where a pot would go.
There is a very recent thread about electronic Resistance controllers, so that is being looked at/worked on.

There are a number of DIY designs for producing a mechanism wah case [treadle drive pot turner].
