Alright so i making the ruby with bassman mods, my problem is i have no idea what a 1M5 resistor is.  Does it just mean 1.5 ohms?  If i can only find 1 ohm resistors will they work?  Also, for the bassman mods it says to put a 220pf cap on the volume pot, however i cant find 220pf, i have two 100pf can i just wire them in series or is the other 20pf mandatory?  I know these substitutions will affect the sound, but will it work?  I have been to 3 of about 5 or 6 radioshacks near me and i just cant find these parts.  Thanks for any help.

1M5 is alternative syntax for a 1.5M resistors; Radioshack may or may not have these, but you could use a 1M and a 470k in series and get  in the ballpark. 1M would probably be fine as well. For the caps, 200pf vs 220 pf is not a huge difference, probably negligable considering capacitor tolerances. If you add the 2 caps, remember that caps add in parallel, not in series.
Good Luck,

If it isn't broken, take it apart and fix it!

I have breadboarded this circuit last week. You can use either 1M or a 1M and 470k in series. Both work fine.

Putting two caps in series divides their capacitance. Caps add in parallel, resistors add in series. Yes, 200pf should be just fine, depending on the speaker you may not even really hear much difference.

BTW, the 'Shack's ceramic cap variety pack isn't a bad deal. I got a few 220pf caps out of that. YMMV.

1M5 is commonly referred to as the European notation.  Basically it's a bit more readable, especially on older schematics.  Decimal points are often easy to miss on schems that have been photocopied and scanned numerours times, so 1.5M could be misread as 15M.  Placing the multiplier inbetween eliminates the confusion.  4.7K = 4K7 and 4.7uF = 4u7 for example.
