Hey!

I'm going to try and build the TS808 from generalguitargadgets, and came across this problem: they say the rating for the caps should be at least 16 volt, and I just can't believe that in an original TS ALL cap ratings are 16 volt.

Does anyone know if it's no problem, and 16 volt caps will give the same result as, say, 36 volt or something caps? I can't find anything on this on internet... maybe someone knows the official volt ratings of the caps?

Thank you in advance!!!  ;)

You will be using either a 9v battery or a PSU that can deliver between 9 - 12 volts
16 volt caps are there as a "safe" minimum value and yes, 808's has 16v caps.
Using 16/25/63/100v caps is not a problem at all, they just get a little "large" when
they are electro and higher rated !
I use a lot of 63volt "poly caps" but will never put that much through a pedal !

Go with 16 or 25v that will be fine and dandy

The 16V rating is just for the electrolytics because it is quite rare to find film caps that are not rated for at least 50V. Using a higher voltage electrolytic is not a problem. :)

You may even want to use 25 or 35V electrolytics as a standard part because then you can run some circuits on 18V for better headroom.
