How do you test a VTL5C2 ?

I just audio probed my tremulus and have discovered that the audio signal is not making it through the cell. How would you test it?

attach a 1-5k resistor to the LED and hook it up to a battery. then just messure the resistance of the LDR..should be somewhere around 500-2000 ohm...
did you check the polarity of the LED?..dumb question perhaps, but I have to ask...

I don't know that circuit. There might not be any audio involved with the vactrol. Is the voltage modulating on the lfo side? Is the resistance changing on the ldr side?
