Hi everybody,

I just bought an Hughes & Kettner Edition 1 40W combo amp off eBay, and it didn't come with the footswitch. To order the FS1 would be $30, and I have the materials sitting around to just make one up. I was wondering if anybody has one, and could tell me what's inside? Is it an SPST, SPDT, DPDT, etc? Are there any other components?

I guess in the end, I can put a bare plug into the footswitch jack, and see if shorting it swtiches to the FX loop. Or would I be endangering the amp?

The manual for that amp says the footswitch just changes the channels.  You could get away with using a Hoover vacuum cleaner switch (I use one of these) hooked up to a 1/4" jack in an enclosure or wire a cable with a 1/4" plug on one end right to the switch leads.

I know it's just a channel changer, but is it just an ON/OFF thing, i.e. would a SPST ON - OFF work? A MONO 1/4" plug?

Maybe I'll just have to put a bare plug into it, and test the plug with a voltmeter, or maybe short across it with an LED.

Sure hope this doesn't blow anything.

Yes, it's just an on/off thing.  Tip/sleeve connected or tip/sleeve disconnected, SPST and a mono jack.

I have a hughes and kettner Duotone,  and my footswitch has 1 XLR that plugs into my amp.  Is this the same switch that you have?  If it is I can take pictures of the inside for you.  I had to repair a faulty solder in mine,  and it was a very simple design inside.  Let me know.
