Hi all.
I just finished Mark Hammer's Chaos Drive (http://hammer.ampage.org/ - page 5) and all I have to say is WOW!!!  I used Paul Marossy's part layout (http://www.diyguitarist.com/PDF_Files/ChaosPCB.pdf) on perf-board (would have been WAY easier if I'd etched a board!).  I followed the part layout exactly (including the TL072 op amp)...except for the Gain pot (I accidentally ordered a log pot instead of a linear one - oops!).  I added a 3PDT switch with true bypass switching and an LED.
This effect so closely simulates my '80s Metallica cover/metal sound that I could probably get rid of my Line6 Uber Metal pedal!!  For such a high gain pedal, it's very quiet with the gain pegged (maybe it will be silent once I get it boxed - but it's really not that bad.)

So...Thanks Mark, for an awesome 'cookbook' design!  ...and thanks to Paul for the part layout (I'm still not comfortable building from diagrams).

For those of us who rock with the big hair...this effect is for you!

Thanks for the compliment.  Your Amex account has been appropriately creditted. :icon_wink: :icon_lol:

The taper of the gain pot probably doesn't matter unless you have a need to dial in a particular gain factor that the taper doesn't let you repeat precisely.  As far as I'm concerned, the best part of it is the tone control which is not mine at all but is Alexandros Charissis' bright idea.  Gotta love them double clippers, though!

Glad that helped you out!  :icon_cool:

Works Great...thanks Mark, and Allisandros Charissis !'
I perfed one up this morning, smooth to high gain clipping, variable response, nice attack/sustain harmonics, does it sometimes remind you of a BMP?
Great Big Sound and TC is very usable from 7 to 5.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.
