CD4001BCN and LM567

Ok, I few questions regarding chips.

First up, the CD4001BCN. I have a few of these scavenged parts. Are they good for anything? I know the unbuffered versions can be used where the CD4049 are used (Hot Harmonics and the Llama), but are the buffered versions useful at all?

Second, in a related question, how can you tell one of these is still good? When I was removing one of these, I wasn't really sure how to get it out, so I clipped a heat shunt to the package to hopefully keep the heat from damaging the chip, but I don't know if I was sucessful.

Related to that, what is the best way to get chips out of a board intact?

Lastly, is the LM567C a replacement for the NE567? I want to put together that noisemaker with the NE567, and was pleasantly suprised to find an LM567 in an old cordless phone. Can it be used?

It's a bridged T and sounds a little weak.  Better to use a full-blown Twin-T (take a look at some of Tim's circuits).

Hi Penpen,

stumbled across your post below and felt sorry for you not getting any replies on the LM567C part of your question!
If you haven't done it already, do a search of the forum using LM567, and among others you'll find some of my ramblings in this thread :

including a bit you'll see I just added.
Build it - it's so simple, and the noise is glorious.
"Why can't I do it like that?"

The reply is appreciated, threefish. I still have that chip I scavenged, unfortunately I got caught up in several projects I'm working on  tweaking and laying out, but they are nearly done and the noise boxes are next on the list. Thanks again, I'll be trying this soon!
