How to calibrate the Slow Gear from Topopiccione site?

What do you need to listen for to let you know it's properly calibrated? From one end of the trimpot to the other it goes from loud and clear to muffled and dull. I got the effect to work, but just want to know if I tuned it to it's maximum potential.
I will post a follow up thread with notes and soundclips once I get some pointers on calibration.

Hi Bluesdavil,
I saw the calibration procedure on the service manual of the real SG-1. I'll post it as soon as I can.

Thanks, this will prove useful when I finish the GGG SG build I'm doing

Thanks, Alex. I don't have a sine wave generator so I'm out of luck getting a precise factory calibration. I did manage to get it to work fairly well  by tuning the trimpot by ear. I actually went through a bit of transistor,IC changes and even flipped around the one of the  pot wires to make it work in a more logical manner.... well in my crazed mind anyway, hahaha!!!  The only thing I don't like is I get a bit of a volume drop with the better sounding compressed settings. I'll tweak the output resistors and see what happens.
A very cool project from an inspirational DIY site!!!
Alteredsounds: Good luck and please post your results when finished!!
