VERY simple box+9volt+switch+LEDs question...

how can i build a box with a 5mm led that turns on via a switch? all i want is a box with a few 5mm leds popping out, that turns on by stomping on a switch...NOTHING complicated by anymeans, i just dont know how to do it. any help? its an idea i have to make for my girlfriend for valentines day...

i have a few stomp switches, like for wahs, and i have ALOT of LEDS...so how can i, without some sort of circuit board, make several lights turn on at once, with a simple switch and 9 volt battery?

Easy as bro


You can add nearly as many leds as you wont.
Just need to make sure your polarities are right.

so 9 volt will do it? good. but what resistors would i use for that? i dont know how to figure that out. im kinda new to some of this stuff.

Yeah 9v is fine & depending on the leds you use & how bright you wont them somewhere from 4k7 to 8k2 (edit) "resistors" should be fine.

sorry for all the questions, my teachers in high school used to hate me!

but lets say ill use 4 5mm LEDS...and i want them to burn fairly bright, much like that of an average pedal. i dont care about battery life, its just a novelty gift idea! but, judging by that, what resistors would i be using?

Here are some variations


The second one has a dimmer pot added.
You may just have to play with resistors to get the required voltage drop which is dependant on the leds you use.
