trigger circuit

i bought a sound sampler circuit from radio shack and am trying to modify it. i took out the play button (which connects the circuit when pressed) and want to use a piezo buzzer to trigger the connection. Being fairly new at all of this i thought i might be able connect a npn transistor to the two sides of the circuit and then connect the buzzer to the base. I assume it is not that simple. if anyone could help me i would appreciate it.

It probably will work, but you need to bias the transistor as well. Connect E to to gnd and C to a 10K resistor- +9v.
