Hey guys,

today I sprayed three enclosures, all with "dark t-shirt transfer" logos. I used a krylon clear coat to spray the boxes. They all seemed fine after one coat, but after two, two of the boxes totally bubbled up. The other was fine, and looks beautiful now  ??? ???

problems i could have avoided:
1. i sprayed outside, and it was about 30 degrees out, 20 degrees colder than suggested.
2. i may have sprayed --a bit-- too much on the second coat... at least, this seems a likely cause of the bubbling.

any suggestions, comments? what have people used with dark t-shirt transfer logos that have worked?

I live in Cali, so i can't really help you on the temp thing. However, that's probably the problem. When I did Xbox modding, I used Krylon clear coat to finish the case paintjobs. Never had a problem with the bubbling that you described, and my first jobs I did use a little much. But once again, I live in California. I'd bet on that cold weather being the problem.

Yah I think its the weather.  I know what your are talking about because I had that problem too. I cant really pin it on the weather but I sprayed on a really cold day. Everything seemed to flow smooth but while drying certain spots seemed higher than others. I used the same kind of spray paint before in warmer weather and didnt get these results. So Im thinking its either the cold weather or the paint reacting with the dry transfers. I didnt use dry transfers though. I used clear labels. Soooooo lets blame the weather! lol.

I've built 4 so far using dark tshirt xfer and krylon and only one bubbled ... i was watching hockey when I ironed that one and I think I ironed it too long! ... the other ones I've done in 20 seconds ... I spray mine inside and it's snowing here so the weather conditions are not quite caloifornia sunshine ;)

So I'm thinkjng if you iron too little it doesn't stick and bubbles and if you iron too long the face comes off the adhesive ... just a guess though.

Where can I order krylon clear coat from in the UK? I've been wanting to try it but can't find anywhere to buy it from...

Thanks for the replies guys,

My folks won't let me spray the stuff inside because it has lots of carcinogens. I guess I'm gonna have to hit up the garage on a warm day  ::)

Ha same here. We have this little wooden play house that the previous owners built in the backyard. Needless to say it became my paint booth. But spray paint is really damgerous. Especially at my house because my brother has really bad lung problems.
