hmm, well, once again I hit the send key without thinking this through . . .   any 15v voltage regulator should do it, or a 317 set up for 15v should work.

Its an LM7815.  If you live in a municipality larger than 1500 people, somebody in town should have it.  Its the 2N3904 of regulators.

Just make sure its enough to handle the current.  They come in 100ma and 1A flavours.

well, actually, I do live in a town of more than 1500 people, and guess what?  I have one.  Yup, me.  Bought a 7815 and 7915 to build a preamp a while back.

Then I do believe we're in business.  Verify your pinouts, though.

I laughed out loud.  That's pretty pathetic on my part.  I salvaged some big rackmount power supply thing a couple months back with a bunch of cards in it.  I pulled them out, and HOLY LORD.  it was like 3904/3906 city.  If there weren't at least a hundred of each in there, I'll be stunned.  I gave them to a friend with a desoldering station and asked him to save me half.  I feel like a nerd. :(
