I know this doesnt belong here but I really need help! sorry in advance. I have a marshall vintage reissue 1987xl head and I am trying to bias it.  On the power tube on the left side, I get current reading through my DMM (im using one of the tube-socket probe things like a bias rite) but when I try to do the same thing on the other power tube, I am getting no reading at all.  Nothing.  The tube is getting power (its glowin fine!) so why am I not able to get a reading on that second power tube?  Thanks.

There are really only three alternatives:
(1) the tube may really not be conducting current
(2) the tube is conducting, but something about the socket, probe, etc. is keeping you from reading it correctly
(2) you're accidentally hooking it up incorrectly

There is not enough information in what you say to tell any more than that.

A glowing heater only means that the thing is getting hot enough to work if the voltages are otherwise correct. A tube with no heater glow is not conducting. A tube with heater glow may or may not be conducting.

You might measure the tube pin voltages and compare them. Are the suspected non-conducting tube voltages radically different from one another?

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

the only difference I see between the socket that is giving me a reading and the socket that isn't giving me a reading is that the socket that IS giving me a reading has no wire attach to it at pin 8. Only a jumper connecting it to pin one. the one that is not giving me a reading has a wire attach to pin 8 as well as the jumper to pin 1.
