schematic for 3 function generator and questions

I believe that I copied it out of a library book?? It was quite some time ago and I can't really recall. If anyone knows the source please let me know, don't want to step on anyones toes.

I guess my first question would be does it look as if it's worth building?
Secondly can anyone recommend a suitable UJT, I had written that it called for a RadioShack part # RS2029 but that does not appear to be a good #
Also I believe the 39K and LDR controll the frequency ?? I would probably replace those with a pot wired as an adjustable resistor.

Any thoughts, suggestions or help would be appreciated!
